Profile

Data scientist and researcher with five years at Wellcome, working across programme evaluation, data engineering, and applied machine learning. The most useful thing I do often happens before anyone opens a spreadsheet: talking to people, working out what question the analysis actually needs to answer, and doing that rather than something technically impressive that misses the point. Analysis that isn't connected to a real decision is just expensive navel-gazing.

I also do patient and public involvement for the NHS, and shoot travel photography, some of which has ended up in the Rough Guide to Japan, the Michelin Guide, and National Geographic.
